Arashi in 2008: a Recap

Gomenasai, these are the only ones I remember… I started fangirling on March and I don’t exactly hang out in the Arashi fandom that much especially since I’m still catching up with all the years of Arashi-goodness that I’ve missed (10 years since their debut!!), hope you forgive if I miss something or dated something wrong…

FEBRUARY

Ohno Satoshi had his “Freestyle” art exhibition on February 21-29, 2008 at Omotesando Hills, exhibiting his 100 clay art figures and several other artworks he had accumulated in the span of 10 years. (I planned to post a link to someone who uploaded the scans but I forgot who it was and I couldn’t find it anymore. I’d probably upload my copies sometime but…)

MARCH

Ohno Satoshi’s butai Amatsukaze took place in Aoyama Theater in Tokyo from March, 21st to April, 7th and in NHK Osaka Hall in Osaka from April 24 to 28.

APRIL

Himitsu no Arashi-chan premiered on April 14, 2008 in TBS

Dream-A-Live Concert on May 31, & June 1, 2008 in Nagoya Dome

JUNE

Dream-A-Live Concert in Tokyo Dome on June 15, 2008

June 28, 2008 was the premiere of the movie “Hana Yori Dango” Final starring Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao

JULY

Maou premiered on July 08, 2008 with Ohno Satoshi as Naruse __ in his first ever lead role in a dorama along with Ikuta Toma. Ohno plays a brilliant “Angel Lawyer” who wants total revenge to the person who killed his brother.

The Ohno & Kimika pictures were published in Friday.

Fandom was shaken when pictures of Ohno Satoshi surfaced and was published in a magazine called Shuukan Gendai on July 28, 2008 where it was statedthat Ohno had allegedly not only done a threesome and took pictures of the prelude but also smoked marijuana. No other proof was given to the alleged marijuana smoking and threesome aside from the pictures (which did does not show him actually smoking marijuana). AUGUST

Matsumoto Jun stars as a “young man who learns he has a rare illness known as CIDP, which affects the nervous system. He begins to lose the functioning of his limbs, but he is determined to fight the illness with the support of his wife and his 2-year-old daughter, Myu-chan” in a drama special “Myu no Anyo, Papa ni Ageru” which wasbroadcasted as part of NTV’s charity programme “24 Hour Television.

Ryuusei no Kizuna premiered in TBS starring Ninomiya Kazunari as Ariake Koichi, the eldest of three orphan  siblings, the others played by Noshikido Ryo and Toda Erika, who dupes other people into giving them money while they also try to find who killed their parents.

Sakurai Sho flew to Beijing, China to be the head newscaster for the Beijing Olympics

SEPTEMBER

Ohno Satoshi’s new dorama was announced on December 8, 2008 Uta no Oniisan where he will be trying on comedy, a huge contrast to last time’s heavy dorama Maou. Filming starts on December 18, 2008 and the first episode premieres on January 16, 2009 at TBS @15PM

… i hope this year will be as exciting for Arashi and for us fangirls too, as the last…

Riida’s New Dorama!!

How late am I with this news, seriously?

Ohno lands his 2nd lead role in TV Asahi’s comedy series “Uta no Oniisan”… yes, after the seriousness of his role in Maou, Ohno’s doing a comedy!

After starring in the TBS drama series “Maou” last season, Arashi’s Satoshi Ohno is back with his second starring TV role. This time, he will lead the TV Asahi comedy series “Uta no Oniisan,” which will air on Friday nights at 11:15pm this winter. This is said to be his first comedy role, including his performances in film and theater.

The story revolves around an unconventional children’s show called “Minna de Utao!” Ohno plays Kenta, a young musician whose band breaks up and who gets dumped by his girlfriend. To top it off, his own family labels him as useless. Unexpectedly, he becomes an “uta no oniisan,” a singing character on the children’s show.

The show begins filming on the 18th of this month and premieres on January 16.

According to the Press Release for Uta no Oniisan, it is:

The story is a comedy of a man who, by some strange chance, becomes an uta no onii-san on a children’s program, his struggles and growth.

Along with his acting power, Ohno’s personality supported his being chosen for the role. His characteristic pokerface with little emotion. It’s a joke amongst the member’s of Arashi to call him “old man” and he is known for his gentle personality. Being the high tension image singing guy from start to finish is quite far cry from the guy who, after all, has said, “I don’t like kids that much.”

Producer Kawanishi said, “From the start, it’s a story who’s protagonist is a helpless singing guy struggling. It’s shocking to see the character feeling forced and made to do something.”

Ah! Ohno’s finally getting his own dorama’s and this one will probably be a bit easier for him to play than Maou’s Naruse, especially since it’s mainly a comedy though I get a feeling it’ll probably a tearjerker too.

Hmmm, wonder if those producers would ever think of giving Aiba a dorama too… he’s getting kind of left out, isn’t he?

For some reason he looks like a clown… it’s creepy! I hate clowns!

-Sleepless Nights and Boats-

I haven’t slept properly for four days now. I come home from work at 7pm I sleep until 11 and I stay awake until the AM when it’s time to go to work again. I discovered the Mago Mago Arashi Rowing Club Episodes, you see, and I haven’t stopped downloading since… I still have 4 episodes to go. It’s like watching a tv series, I just need to know what happens next or I won’t be able to sleep, like now. This sort of explains why my head hasn’t been working properly these days…

My friend, Ferijen, sent me a text message this morning. She said our friend, Api’s, father died yesterday and asked if I could go there on Sunday for the funeral…

Condolences to you and your family, Api. Hope you get over it soon. I sound insensitive the way I say it but I don’t know however else I can say it. I lost my mom too, and I know it’s best to move on as fast as you could or it’ll muddle your head.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the sixth installment of the Harry Potter Movie Franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, a young wizard deemed to be the only one who could destroy an evil wizard known as Lord Voldemort. The movie is based on a novel written by J.K. Rowling with the same name. The movie is due in its release on July 17, 2009.

Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleage, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon-vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes hold crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormorns rage across ramparts. harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas and Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simmering with jealousy but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Directing the movie is David Yates, director of the fifth film, HP & the Order of Phoenix. Cast still includes Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ronald Weasley, and Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore. Among the new actors added in the new movie are Jim Broadbent playing Professor Horace Slughorn, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, Ralfe Fiennes nephew,  playing the 11-year old Tom Riddle, Frank Dillane as the teenage Tom Riddle, Jessie Cave taking on the role of Lavender Brown, and more… for more cast information please try this link to a wiki page.

According to Director Yates and Producer Heyman, a number of changes have been made from the book to the movie; mostly cuts from the book. Among those removed are the Battle of Hogwarts, the funeral at the end, and flashbacks from Riddle’s memory. A review on the test screening of the movie can be found in Mugglenet.com for the complete and detailed changes of what we should expect in the movie (suffice it to say spoilers are to be expected).

Now… tell me I’m not the only one thinking it’s taking too long for this movie to be released.

What Do You Do When a Combi Teller Don’t Hand You Your Change?

The title is long but basically this is just an MC Part of Arashi’s Tokyo Dome Concert. Nino said that the Combi Teller did not give him his 2yen change and asked the others what they would do in that situation.

This is Nino videoing Ohno while inside their hotel before a performance. There are bottles of champagne in the fridge, a falling water lagoon thing inside the room, a huge bed and plazma tv with the bath tub completely in view from the bed, an egg like toilet and more… I love watching backstage videos… even though they’re not subbed. Does anyone know any subbed copies of this video or where it was filmed or something?
BTW. Remember when Himitsu no Arashi-chan was being promoted, they had that poster with zippered pants and secrets inside? Has anyone found out what was there?

Watching Kitto Daijobu. I love this song because no matter how crappy i feel my day is, it always makes me feel light and fluffy. It’s sort of like my 3-4 minute trip to cloud nine. Then again when I come down from cloud nine I feel crappier. The solution then is to listen to Arashi the whole day.
